Family Caregiver Support
A 'caregiver' is anyone who provides unpaid care and support at home, in the community or in a care facility to an adult friend or family member who is chronically ill, living with a disability, elderly or palliative. About 85% of people provide care for loved ones at some point in their lives. Family and friend caregivers offer a range of support, from physical care to personal care, emotional and social support, meal planning, transportation, and linking with health and community services.
Sometimes the transition home from hospital or rehab facility can be eased with the help of a professional. Personal Support Workers can provide direct personal care to a loved one and offer support, expertise and encouragement to the entire household.
Often, caregivers are so focused on caring for others that they don't have time to take care of themselves. With just a few hours of Personal Support Worker services, many of our caregiver clients are able to attend classes and support groups, visit with friends and family, or simply spend a few hours with a good book with the knowledge that their loved one is receiving professional, caring attention.
Continuity of Care
Spectrum Health Care is very careful to ensure that the workers assigned to you and your family are not only rigorously screened, but are a 'right fit'. We make every effort to ensure that you receive the same worker each time you order services, providing comfort and familiarity to you and your loved one. We also provide back-up when your usual worker(s) are on holiday or unable to provide service when you need it.
